GAZ 67 (1943) - DeAgostini/IST Models

S-a produs pana in 1953, cand i-a cedat locul lui GAZ 69

GAZ 67 (1943) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ 67 was a Russian all-terrain vehicle, which started production in 1943 at the GAZ plant. It was the soviet equivalent of the Willys Jeep and it was extensively used in WW2. It was the successor of GAZ 64. They were very similar but GAZ 64 was built in a low number of pieces. GAZ 67 had a bigger wheelbase and bigger gas tank. It was powered by a 54 hp engine, able to take the vehicle at 90 km/h. It was produced until 1953 when it was replaced by the GAZ 69.

The scale model is produced by IST and it belongs from the Polish Deagostini Collection. A similar one was released in Russia too. It has a rough finish with only base details. The front grille is not perforated nor painted. The wipers are the same piece with the windscreen and, at my model, the canvas roof is crooked.

GAZ 69 (1953) - DeAgostini/IST Models

Aro a dezvoltat in continuare modelul, producand Aro M59 si Aro M461 care s-a produs pana in 1975.

 GAZ 69 (1953) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ 69 was a 4x4 vehicle, produced in Russia, at  Gorkovskij Awtomobilnyj Zavod between 1953 - 1955. After this, the production was moved to the UAZ plant, but the model remained known as GAZ 69. The most common version was the 2 door, removable soft-top model. GAZ 69, was built under license by Aro, in Romania, by the name M57 (M from Muscel). Then, Aro developed the model, and produced Aro M59 and Aro M461. Aro M461 stayed in production until 1975.

The scale model is produced by IST Modeles, for DeAgostini, and it's one of the best models from the DeA collection. The soft-top is removable, making the interior with the 2 gear-sticks visible. In the back there are 2 benches for the passengers. The color is matte,  like army models usually have. It was my first DeAgostini models, and I am very pleased with it.

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" Cabrio (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" Cabrio (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" Cabrio, is the 4-door convertible version of the Pobeda car made by the russians. In the spirit of that times, the transformation to convertible was made without too much struggle. They just replaced the metal with the canvas without any design change. In the same style, a few years later, GAZ69A and Aro 241 were made.

The scale model belongs to the DeAgostini collection from Russia, and until now it only available there. The features of the model are similar with the hard-top model presented here.

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" (pobeda[rus]=victorie) a fost produs in Uniunea Sovietica intre anii 1946-1958. S-a produs sub licenta si in Polonia sub numele de Warszawa. A primit numele de Pobeda intr-o perioada cand victoria URSS-ului in WW2 parea probabila.

Vopseaua are mici imperfectiuni sub forma unor umflaturi.

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" (pobeda[rus]=victory)  was produced in the Soviet Union between 1946-1958. It was also produced under license in Poland, named Warszawa. It was designed in the first '40s by the engineer Andrei A. Liphart, and first tests were conducted at the GAZ plant. It received the name of Pobeda in a period when the victory of USSR in WW2 seemed probable. Pobeda was successfully exported in other countries, Romania as well. It had a 4 cylinder, 2.1 liters engine, 50 bhp, and it could reach 105 km/h. Some years later, from Pobeda derived a 4-doors convertible and a 4x4.

I wished this scale model very much. It was my favourite from the Hungarian colection, after Dacia, of course. It is ok realized, with all the specific details. The paintjob has some small errors, blisters. The taillights are poorly done, chromed and painted with red over the chrome.  The dashboard is is well done, but not painted, nor visible gauges.

GAZ M24 "Volga" (1968) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In 1961 a inceput dezvoltarea unui nou model menit sa inlocuiasca batrana Volga. In 1967 a aparut primul "concept car" iar in 1968 a iesit primul lot.

GAZ M24 "Volga" (1968) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In 1961, GAZ began developing of a new model to replace the old Volga. GAZ M24, also called "Volga", had the same engine from M21, but modernized. A new V8, 5,5 liters was designed for the model that will be used by the country elite. In 1967, the first concept car was launched and in 1968 they released the first batch.
The scale model, is from the DeAgostini collection, and it's a very successful model. There are no replication errors, the badges look good, the light are well colored but they have rivets. The wheels are ok, with a white trim. The front grille is not perforated, nor painted in black instead of holes. The interior is basic, without decals or additional colors.

GAZ M21 "Volga" Taxi (1958) - Altaya/IXO

GAZ M21 "Volga" Taxi (1958) - Altaya/IXO

Being a common, big and tough car, GAZ M21 "Volga", was also used as a Taxi, even in Romania
The scale model is produced by IST or IXO (almost the same thing) for Altaya and DeAgostini, and it belongs from the "Taxis of the world' collection. The applied decals are like the real ones, but the "Taxi"plate was not very common in this size (so big). The model is made, obviously, with the same mould as the Volga I presented before, but it has some small differences. The wheel are different model, and are chromed. The front grille is identical but the Taxi does not have the painted black holes. The paint layer is thin, so the metal is visible at some edges. The front badge is not very readable and the backlights are painted. At the interior, there are only the basic details. I consider this model worse than the one made for DeAgostini, for the communist cars.

GAZ M21 "Volga" (1958) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In Romania, a fost masina oficialitatilor, mai ales in culoarea neagra.

Ea exista in colectia din Rusia dar in varianta break (kombi). In rest, doar detaliile de baza.

GAZ M21 "Volga" (1958) - DeAgostini/IST Models

I start the presentations of  communist cars with the most popular one, the wheeled symbol of the Eastern Block.
GAZ M21 "Volga" gets his name from the Volga river, and it entered on the drawing board at the beginning of the '50s. It was the successor of the Pobeda. It was a tough car, build for the rough roads of that era, and his design was inspired from the american cars. It was produced in 3 facelift, slightly different, and it was exported to all Europe. It wasn't very accessible to the ordinary people due to its high price. In Romania, it was the car of the leaders, especially in black  color.
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZM14wzRaMaw

The scale model replicates the second facelift, produced between 1958-1962, which, in my opinion is the less beautiful of all the 3 models.  I wished that DeAgostini choose the 3rd one for the collection. It exists on the russian collection but it's the estate (kombi) version. The details are limited to a "magazine" model. The interior it's in one color, without the small details (gauges, etc.). The headlights have visible rivets. I can give it a good mark for the fine made logos and the "gazelle" from the hood. The wheels are also very good.
